How to Make Bamboo Charcoal?

01Prereatment for Bamboo Materials

  • Drying: Keep bamboo moisture is below 15% for better pyrolysis (carbonization) effect.
  • Crushing and screening: Keep bamboo materials size is between 5mm and 20mm for faster reaction efficiency.

02Preheating Biochar Reactor

Preheat biochar reactor for 60 to 90 minutes. Once the desired temperature is reached, you can begin feeding the material. The pyrolysis reaction will produce enough syngas. The external heat source can be adjusted based on the amount of gas generated, allowing for timely shutdown.

Note: Initial heating can be done using diesel, LPG, or natural gas, but different burners need to be prepared accordingly.

03Feeding Bamboo into Reactor

04Bamboo Pyrolysis/Carbonization Process

Bamboo waste undergoes drying and partial carbonization inside the inner cylinder of the reactor. A screw mechanism then pushes the material into the outer cylinder, where complete carbonization occurs. Finally, the screw pushes the material to the discharge outlet.

  • Reaction Duration: Approximately 15 to 25 minutes.
  • Reaction Temperature: 380°C to 450°C.

05Bamboo Biochar Discharging

The bamboo charcoal is discharged by a three-stage sealed and water-cooling discharger or manual labor force.
Customers can choose whether to collect wood tar and wood vinegar based on their needs.

06SynGas & Emission Gas Treatment

Large amounts of syngas are piped to the first-stage cyclone dust collector for duct removal. Then it’s converted into combustible fuel and used to heat the pyrolysis reactor. Afterward, the produced hot smoke goes through multiple dedusting treatments. The purified exhaust is then safely released, meeting emission standards.
