Beston Group’s oil sludge recycling project in Oman reached a new milestone! A set of BLJ-16 thermal desorption unit is successfully installed in October 2024. The installation is carried out with the assistance of our dedicated installation engineer and project manager. They are on-site to provide hands-on guidance to the Omani customers. Their expertise ensure the smooth installation of the unit. With the joint efforts of the Beston team and the Omani customers, the trial operation of the equipment goes smoothly. Below are the specific details of TDU unit installation for your reference.
1. Preparation Before Installation
Layout Confirmation & Personnel Division
Beston installation team first conduct a preliminary site assessment at the customer’s site in Oman. They measure and marke the installation locations of each device. After confirming the site, our installation team and the Oman customer conduct a detailed personnel division of labor to clarify their respective responsibilities.
Site Adjustment & Bracket Construction
According to the site layout, the customer’s site needs to be raised as a whole. This is to reserve enough installation space for some equipment. Some equipment of the TDU unit requires specially designed brackets at the bottom. Our team is responsible for assisting customers in cutting and welding brackets to ensure that the equipment is firmly installed.
2. Hoisting of Each Component
First Hoisting
This time, the main task was to hoist the pyrolysis reactor and condenser:
- When hoisting the reactor, the reactor casing needs to be precisely docked with the thread hole. Under limited tool conditions, the installation team provided comprehensive guidance to ensure accurate positioning.
- During the hoisting of the condenser, balance is critical. This requires the support platform to be stable. Beston’s installation engineers made precise adjustments to the docking welding support parts. This ensures that the condenser does not tilt.
Second Hoisting
The overall height of the equipment has increased. Therefore, instead of a forklift, the crane completes the hoisting of all equipment that requires additional legs. The hoisting process of components such as the screw feeder, manifold and cooling tower is strictly carried out in accordance with the preset support structure. This ensures that there is no deviation during the hoisting process.
Third Hoisting
The main tasks included hoisting the feeding platform, condenser platform, and vertical pipe. In particular, during the hoisting of the vertical pipe, it was also necessary to complete its welding with the oil pipe and subsequent cutting. Beston installation team provides guidance for omani customer throughout the aerial work. It ensures smooth and precise welding completion.
3. Component Assembly
Pipeline Assembly
Our installation team assists the welders in welding the pipes between each components. The engineer conducts a detailed inspection of each pipe weld, especially the sealing of the weld. This ensures there is no leakage, thus avoiding hidden dangers in the operation of thermal desorption system due to loose welding.
Insulation Facility Assembly
The insulation cotton and corrugated panel of thermal desorption reactor are the key to ensure the insulation and safe operation. Uniformity of the insulation cotton layer and stability of the corrugated panel directly affect the use effect of pyrolysis equipment. Therefore, our installation team strictly controls the assembly of the insulation facilities by the workers.
4. Equipment inspection
After completing the assembly of all TDU components, we first conduct a strict inspection of the installation of each link to ensure that nothing was missed. Subsequently, the installation team assists the Omani customer in conducting an air tightness test. We focuse on checking all pipe connections and closed components. This ensures there will be no leakage during the operation of the equipment.
5. Operator Training
During the trial operation of thermal desorption unit in Oman, we organize detailed training for the operation team of the Omani customer. The training content covers the overall operation process of the equipment, including the startup, operation and shutdown steps. Moreover, Beston installation team focuses on the methods of PLC control system for equipment monitoring, parameter adjustment and troubleshooting. These all ensure the smooth progress of subsequent production of this oil sludge treatment plant in Oman.
