Waste Tires into Fuel Oil: African Pyrolysis + Distillation Project Powers Factory Fuel Self-Sufficiency

A major step forward in East Africa’s circular economy! A waste tire pyrolysis plant and a set of oil distillation equipment were successfully installed and commissioned in East Africa under the technical guidance of Beston Group. This project processes 8–10 tons of end-of-life tire waste daily into fuel oil, which enables the client to achieve industrial energy self-sufficiency while creating an extra commercial revenue stream.

Stage 1: Crude Tyre Pyrolysis Oil
Stage 2: Light Distillate Oil
Stage 2: Heavy Distillate Oil

Project Background: Breaking Free from Rising Energy Costs

The client owns and operates multiple industrial factories in the local region. As business operations continued to expand, the demand for industrial fuel across various production lines kept rising. High and persistent energy costs had become a core issue constraining overall profitability. Recognizing that tire pyrolysis oil could serve as a cost-effective alternative fuel, the client invested in this tire-to-energy project to significantly cut fuel expenses.

Solution: Tire Pyrolysis + Distillation

Based on in-depth communication with the client, we designed a customized solution with a processing capacity of 8-10 tons per day, consisting of one tyre pyrolysis unit and one distillation unit.

1. 8-10 TPD Tyre Pyrolysis Plant

End-of-life tires are efficiently processed into pyrolysis oil, carbon black, and steel wire. The system features an advanced reactor design, a efficient condensing system for maximum oil recovery, an advanced flue gas purification unit for environmental compliance, and a water-cooling discharging system to ensure safe operations.

  • Processing capacity: 8-10 tons waste tires
  • Configuration: Standard configuration
  • Output: Crude tyre pyrolysis oil

2. BZJ-10 Distillation Equipment

The crude pyrolysis oil is fed directly into the distillation system, where precise temperature control separates it into light oil and heavy oil.

Output 1: Heavy Distilled Oil (Fractionated at 250–280°C)

With high calorific value, heavy oil will be used as alternative industrial fuels in the client’s own factories to reduce factory energy expenses.

Output 2: Light Distilled Oil (Fractionated at <250°C)

With lower impurity content, light oil will be sold into the local market to create new revenue stream that accelerates ROI.

Results and Long-Term Value

After installation and commissioning, the system run smoothly and its oil yield satisfies expected standards. Self-sufficiency in fuel oil sinificantly reduce the client’s overall fuel procurement costs across its factories by more than 30%.

For energy-intensive industries, the value of such a tire pyrolysis recycling project goes far beyond “eco-friendly processing waste tires.” It offers a practical path to lowering costs, stabilizing fuel supply, and even generating incremental revenue. This is also why we continue to provide sustainable pyrolysis solutions to clients around the world.
