Turning Waste Plastic Into Fuel: BLJ-16 Plastic Pyrolysis Plant Delivered in Europe

Plastic pyrolysis project achieves new progress in Europe! A set of BLJ-16 plastic pyrolysis plant has successfully completed installation and commissioning. Beston Group’s installation team received the acceptance sign-off from the European customer. The project is dedicated to converting the customer’s daily industrial plastic waste into high-value fuel oil. Project Background: From Waste Challenge to Energy Integration

The customer operates in the renewable energy sector in Europe and has maintained stable cooperation with Chinese suppliers for many years. The project addressed two pressing challenges the customer faced, and the benefits plastic pyrolysis brought in response.

What the Customer Faced:

  • Environmental pressure: Daily operations generate a steady volume of PP and PET waste plastic packaging, accumulating on site and requiring an urgent, sustainable disposal solution.
  • Energy shortage: Local electricity prices are high, particularly in winter, when the customer’s business — which mainly covers demand through summer power — faces a persistent energy gap.

What Plastic Pyrolysis Delivered:

  • Waste-to-fuel conversion: Pyrolysis converts waste plastics into fuel oil. Combined with future power generation facilities, it can help offset the customer’s winter electricity shortage.
  • Reliable feedstock supply: Waste plastics and end-of-life tires are available locally at low cost, serving as supplementary feedstock for stable, long-term operation.

After a comprehensive technical and economic evaluation, the European customer selected the BLJ-16 plastic pyrolysis plant, configured with a single manifold, hydraulic feeding system, and steam boiler.

Challenges and Solutions: Rapid On-Site Response to Critical Issues

The plastic to oil machine was installed on-site by the customer’s own team. Beston Group then dispatched installation engineer to support equipment commissioning and trial production, ensuring the project reached full operation.

Challenge 1: Pressure Surge in Comissioning

At approximately 400°C, main furnace pressure repeatedly spiked out of control. Emergency depressurization was required each time.


Solution: The engineer traced the issue to water accumulation in the piping, which had disabled the afterburner’s gas burner. Once cleared, trial production proceeded as planned.

Challenge 2: Water Seal Installation Dispute

The afterburner failed to ignite during testing. The customer maintained that installation had followed the specified guidelines.


Solution: The engineer inspected the water seal piping directly, confirmed the installation error, and guided the customer through the correction.

Results and Customer Feedback

Following the troubleshooting of the pressure surge and water seal issues, BLJ-16 pyrolysis plant entered formal trial production. The Beston engineer continued on-site monitoring to verify stable operation and performance. The trial was completed successfully, leading to on-site acceptance by the customer.

Trial Production Results

The customer fed approximately 2.2 tons of baled and rolled waste plastic in a single batch. The recovered fuel oil ignited readily and burned steadily during testing. The solid residue also showed no obvious signs of unpyrolyzed feedstock.

Customer Acceptance

On-site commissioning was completed in 15 days, in line with the original project timeline. The customer completed the on-site acceptance and formally signed off on the project, confirming that the system met the agreed commissioning requirements.
