Project Background: From Waste Challenge to Energy Integration

The customer operates in the renewable energy sector in Europe and has maintained stable cooperation with Chinese suppliers for many years. The project addressed two pressing challenges the customer faced, and the benefits plastic pyrolysis brought in response.

Waste Plastic Pile at Customer’s Site

What the Customer Faced:

Environmental pressure: Daily operations generate a steady volume of PP and PET waste plastic packaging, accumulating on site and requiring an urgent, sustainable disposal solution.

Energy shortage: Local electricity prices are high, particularly in winter, when the customer’s business — which mainly covers demand through summer power — faces a persistent energy gap.

BLJ-16 Plastic Pyrolysis Plant Under Installation

What Plastic Pyrolysis Delivered:

Waste-to-fuel conversion: Pyrolysis converts waste plastics into fuel oil. Combined with future power generation facilities, it can help offset the customer’s winter electricity shortage.

Reliable feedstock supply: Waste plastics and end-of-life tires are available locally at low cost, serving as supplementary feedstock for stable, long-term operation.

After a comprehensive technical and economic evaluation, the European customer selected the BLJ-16 plastic pyrolysis plant, configured with a single manifold, hydraulic feeding system, and steam boiler.

Challenges and Solutions: Rapid On-Site Response to Critical Issues

The plastic to oil machine was installed on-site by the customer’s own team. Beston Group then dispatched installation engineer to support equipment commissioning and trial production, ensuring the project reached full operation.

Challenge 1: Pressure Surge in Commissioning

Solution: The engineer traced the issue to water accumulation in the piping, which had disabled the afterburner’s gas burner. Once cleared, trial production proceeded as planned.

Results and Long-Term Value

After installation and commissioning, the system run smoothly and its oil yield satisfies expected standards. Self-sufficiency in fuel oil sinificantly reduce the client’s overall fuel procurement costs across its factories by more than 30%.

For energy-intensive industries, the value of such a tire pyrolysis recycling project goes far beyond “eco-friendly processing waste tires.” It offers a practical path to lowering costs, stabilizing fuel supply, and even generating incremental revenue. This is also why we continue to provide sustainable pyrolysis solutions to clients around the world.

Another carbon removal project is about to be launched! 2 sets of BST-50S HM biochar production equipment have completed shipment to Southeast Asia. The equipment supports a palm kernel shell biochar carbon removal project developed locally by a European client, built in two phases. The equipment processes byproducts from the region’s palm processing industry through pyrolysis. Below are photos and details from the shipping site.

BST-50S biochar production equipment successfully arrives at port, ready to be shipped to Southeast Asia(Credit: Beston Group)

Project Background: Cross-Regional Synergy Between Policy and Feedstock

In February 2026, the EU formally adopted the first certified methodologies under the Carbon Removal and Carbon Farming Certification Framework (CRCF), classifying biochar carbon removal as a permanent removal pathway. Yet scaling biochar projects ultimately depends on sustained feedstock supply — a constraint in Europe itself. Southeast Asia, backed by abundant agricultural residues, has become one of the regions with the highest concentration of biochar carbon removal projects worldwide.
Our client, a European carbon removal developer, recognized this gap: policy recognition was already in place in Europe, while feedstock supply capacity sat in Southeast Asia. The developer partnered with a local Southeast Asian government, selecting palm kernel shell (PKS) — a byproduct of the region’s palm processing industry — as feedstock, launching a biochar carbon sink project that connects policy certainty in Europe with feedstock supply in Southeast Asia.

Project Information: Customized Configuration Based on PKS Characteristics

This PKS biochar carbon sink project is being built in two phases, with all biochar production equipment now fully manufactured. Both phases use an identical configuration, providing a consistent standard for future capacity expansion and equipment maintenance. Once complete, the project will produce 12,000 tons of biochar and remove 24,000 tons of CO2 annually. Based on PKS characteristics, our engineering team designed the following customized configuration:

PKS Feedstock Characteristic

Corresponding Configuration

Function

Moisture content around 50%

Dryer

Reduces moisture to below 15%, preventing batch variation from affecting carbonization thermal efficiency

Uneven feedstock particle size

Trommel screen

Removes fine particles to prevent dust and oversized particles to prevent incomplete carbonization

Shell-based feedstock requires high carbonization temperature

BST-50S HM continuous reactor

Stainless steel main furnace withstands temperatures up to 650°C, ensuring the feedstock is fully carbonized

Next Steps: From Equipment Installation to Carbon Credit Realization

Both biochar machines are scheduled for simultaneous installation in September 2026, with Beston engineers traveling on-site to guide installation and commissioning. Equipment and supporting facilities construction marks only the midpoint of the project cycle. Once both production lines reach full processing capacity, the annual 12,000 tons of biochar still need MRV data collection and third-party verification. Only then does it convert into 24,000 tons of tradable carbon credits. We will continue to update you on-site installation and commissioning information, so please stay tuned.

Project Background: Carbon Removal Potential in the Construction Industry

Current Challenges

European carbon quotas and ESG compliance requirements are growing increasingly stringent. As a result, the construction industry is actively turning to “negative emission” technologies. The European investor behind this project is a multinational group deeply rooted in construction engineering. Notably, they keenly recognize the built environment’s enormous potential as a “carbon sink.”

Solution By Biochar

Biochar serves as a highly stable medium for carbon sequestration. Its applications span construction services — from green building material additives to urban greening, soil improvement, and rooftop gardens. As a result, clients can integrate sustainable facility management with cutting-edge carbon removal technology. Moreover, this opens a new track for high-value carbon credit trading.

Equipment Information for Carbon Removal Project in Europe

The European client selected Beston Group as their equipment supplier for this biochar carbon removal project. To meet stringent European technical standards, we customized BST-50 biochar production equipment with the following configurations:

Raw Material Handling: The system uses local forestry waste wood chips as raw material. Since the wood chips carry high initial moisture (around 30%), Beston incorporated a drying system to ensure thermal efficiency.

Process Innovation: This project features a new process with a tar dust self-cleaning system. Consequently, it eliminates the industry pain point of scaling and pipe clogging in traditional pyrolysis, ensuring continuous operation.

High-Speed Delivery Through an Efficient Supply Chain

European clients set extremely high requirements for the project timeline. Therefore, compressing the delivery cycle and ensuring on-time arrival became the primary challenge.

Equipment Manufacturing: The team officially placed the order and launched design on September 27, 2025. The intelligent production workshop then prioritized scheduling and ran multi-process collaboration at full capacity. As a result, the team completed the entire biochar machine set by November 5, 2025 — in just over a month.

Logistics and Delivery: Before shipment, the client deployed a professional team to conduct a rigorous full-machine inspection. All technical specifications met standards. The shipping department then moved swiftly to secure logistics space, and the equipment set sail on November 21, 2025.

From order initiation to departure, the entire process took only 55 days. This demonstrates Beston Group’s remarkable high-speed delivery capability.

Detailed Installation Guidance Accelerates Project Implementation

As soon as materials arrived at the European project site, Beston’s overseas engineers immediately flew out to provide on-site guidance.

Installation Preparation: Early in the project, the technical team delivered a detailed civil engineering plan based on the site layout. This preparation significantly reduced construction time after equipment arrival.

Multi-Trade Scheduling: On-site, engineers precisely scheduled local workers by trade — electricians, welders, and mechanical assemblers — keeping all teams aligned with the predetermined timeline.

High-Precision Calibration: Engineers then thoroughly inspected key components — including the main reactor’s seals, drive systems, and piping connections — ensuring the biochar pyrolysis equipment cleared high-standard engineering acceptance.

On December 29th, 2025, Beston Group successfully launched a high-efficiency oil sludge treatment project in Africa. Utilizing advanced TDU pyrolysis technology, the project converts industrial hazardous waste into high-value resources, marking a significant step forward for the region in achieving a circular economy and meeting environmental regulatory standards. Below are the detailed insights into this project:

Beston engineers are carefully commissioning the TDU system under the bright sun (Credit: Beston Group)

Issues Faced & Core Objectives

Issues: A mid-sized solid waste management company in Africa had long struggled with massive accumulations of oil sludge. Their previous incineration methods caused severe smoke pollution and a harsh operating environment (high temperatures and odors), making it impossible to meet local environmental regulations.

Objectives: To implement advanced pyrolysis equipment that is stable in operation, highly automated, and capable of resource recovery.

Large volumes of oily drill cuttings staged on the ground for treatment

Project Value & Results

Following the successful 15-ton oil sludge commissioning run in late December 2025, the plant is now fully operational, delivering the following key values to the client:

Environmental compliance: The closed-loop operation eliminated the smoke emissions associated with traditional incineration.

Economic circularity: The produced pyrolysis oil not only fuels the equipment but the surplus also generates additional profit for the client.

Brand elevation: The stable operation of this project has helped the client transform from a traditional “incineration station” into a benchmark enterprise for environmental treatment in the region.

Beston Group is proud to announce the successful installation and commissioning of a set of wood charcoal making machine in Europe. This milestone project represents a significant step in supporting the European timber processing industry’s transition toward high-value, circular economy models. Explore the full details of this industrial transformation below:

1. Project Overview

Equipment Configuration: charcoal making machine +extended drum dryer + rotary screening

Raw Materials: wood processing residues (pine chips and sawdust)

End-Use Application: export-grade BBQ charcoal

Project Status: installation and commissioning completed; now in full-scale production

wood charcoal machine installed at European sawmill, converting timber residues into BBQ charcoal(captured by installation engineer, Nov 2025)

2. Challenge: The “Wood Mountain” Dilemma

Background:

In a region of Europe with abundant forestry resources, a large sawmill operated by our client was facing a tough challenge. As the production of timber steadily increased year after year, the by-products, pine wood chips, wood scraps, and sawdust, piled up in the factory.

The Client’s Situation:

Initially, the client’s plan was to sell the wood chips at a low price to a local paper mill. However, this strategy proved both unprofitable and insufficient, as the waste material accumulated much faster than it could be processed. Worse still, the factory was overwhelmed with wood waste, which creates significant fire hazards. These wood chips became a “burden” that was neither useful nor easily disposed of.

Solution: Rigorous Material Screening

The client turned to Beston Group for a sustainable transformation. They hope to convert timber waste into export-grade BBQ charcoal through our wood charcoal machine. However, a key challenge emerged early in the planning stage: the material was extremely uneven. Since it was leftover from timber processing, it contained both large wood chips and fine sawdust particles.

Technical Adjustment: After multiple discussions and material tests by our technical team, we discovered that sawdust finer than 1-3mm negatively impacted the airflow in the main furnace and compromised the quality of carbonization.

Solution: We decided to exclude fine sawdust from the pyrolysis process. Additionally, our technical team added a dedicated rotary screening production line to ensure the material entering charcoal furnace was uniform in size. This adjustment guaranteed that the finished charcoal met export-grade standards for both hardness and calorific value.

3. Delivery: Professional Support Across Thousands of Kilometers

After the client received the equipment on schedule, our installation engineers traveled to Europe between September and November 2025. During their stay, the engineers successfully transformed what began as a “pile of parts” into a “modernized factory”:

High Engineering Standards: From the inlet head to the combustible gas piping, every single weld undergoes rigorous pressure testing. Beyond mechanical assembly, our installation engineers performed secondary optimizations on-site to navigate complex piping layouts.

Context-Specific Adjustments: Taking local climate conditions into account, the installation team meticulously applied insulation to all critical pipelines. This ensures the equipment maintains peak operational stability even in extreme cold.

Comprehensive Operational Training: Upon completing complex electrical commissioning, our engineers provided comprehensive technical training to local operators, successfully distilling intricate equipment structures into standardized operating manuals.
